Wayne Goldstein Memorial Foundation’s 2024 Community Advocacy Scholarships
Before his untimely death at the age of 56 in 2009, Wayne Goldstein (B-CC class of 1970) spent more than a decade as an activist focused on government transparency, public accountability, and participatory democracy in Montgomery County.
In recognition of his tireless work on behalf of the local community, the Wayne Goldstein Foundation will award $5,000 Community Advocacy scholarships to four graduating B-CC High School seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to the public good and plan to pursue a career in community organizing, environmental protection, public interest law, or a related field.
While these scholarships are intended to support academic achievement in pursuit of a four-year undergraduate degree, the ideal candidate will be one who views public service and community engagement as a lifestyle choice, not simply one’s occupation. Preference will be given to applicants from underrepresented communities, particularly those individuals who are the first in their family to attend college. The application form is available here.

Raymond Locke Scholarships
The B-CC High School Educational Foundation offers Raymond Locke College Scholarships of $1300 each to two B-CC High School female graduating seniors with financial need.
Raymond Locke was a devoted fan of Bethesda-Chevy Chase (B-CC) High School Field Hockey and the beloved and proud father of two B-CC field hockey players, Abby, 2005 and Samantha, 2008. Over his short lifetime, Raymond was a strong advocate for girls’ sports, and he coached and managed over two hundred girls participating in basketball, soccer, and field hockey. To honor his memory and continue his legacy of encouraging the participation of girls in sports, especially girls in underserved communities, the Raymond Locke Foundation donated its funds to the B-CC High School Educational Foundation to underwrite the work of the Foundation and to offer scholarships in his memory.
